The NSC at recent events
Earlier this quarter we co-hosted an event with the Department of Education, Skills and Employment (DESE) in Adelaide targeted at job seekers displaced by COVID. Attendees were offered an insight into the Australian Naval Shipbuilding Industry with presenters from the Naval Shipbuilding College, ASC Pty Ltd and BAE Systems Australia. These events provide participants with an opportunity to discuss the roles and pathways available with industry and education providers.
In August, the team had the pleasure of speaking at SkillsWest in Perth on the ‘National Skills Week Skills Stage’ with Thales Systems Engineer, Taylor Odishoo. We discussed the skills required to get into the industry, vocational pathways and Taylor provided an insight into her career in naval shipbuilding. The team also took the opportunity to speak with many students, educators, and job seekers throughout the SkillsWest event.
Over the coming months there will be many opportunities to speak to the NSC team about naval shipbuilding pathways. In November, students can find us at Science Alive at the Royal Adelaide Showgrounds where they will learn about the wonders of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and the future career opportunities available in these fields.
