For the first time, the Naval Shipbuilding College (NSC) and Saab Australia (Saab) – an industry-leading systems provider and capability integrator – have partnered to provide software engineers with free upskilling to facilitate their transition into the maritime domain.

Currently in an exciting growth phase, Saab is looking for engineers who want to take the next step in their career and contribute to national and international projects focused on keeping people and society safe.

Free upskilling will be part of the induction program for engineers joining the Saab Maritime team.

When and where?

If your application is successful, your first week as a Saab employee will take place in early October at the NSC in South Australia. Here you will complete a suite of micro-credentials tailored to support Australia’s Naval Shipbuilding Industry.

The micro-credentials, developed by the NSC with our joint venture partner HII – America’s largest naval shipbuilder – include:

  • Introduction to Naval Shipbuilding
  • Naval Ship Systems for Engineers – Overview
  • Naval Ship Systems for Engineers – Software Engineering


What do my first eight weeks at Saab look like?

Once you have completed the micro-credentials, you will join Saab’s onsite induction program which will introduce you to all aspects of the business as well as your team.

An NSC Candidate Engagement Consultant will work with you to ensure you meet the requirements to be considered for this exciting opportunity and answer any questions you may have.

Note: Defence security clearance is required for this role – applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an NV1 clearance.
