The team visited South Australia’s state-of-the-art facility to view vocational training programs for Year 11 and 12 students that develop career pathways into shipbuilding trades like welding, fitting and machining.

Naval Shipbuilding College Program Director Bill Docalovich said the facility will provide students with the skills they need to be “job-ready”.

“The centre exposes secondary students in pre-apprentice qualifications or ‘taster’ programs to the most modern equipment available.”

“We’ll continue to network with staff and students at the Centre and support them to get involved in naval shipbuilding or associated supply-chain industries in the future.”

Funded by the Commonwealth Government’s Trade Training Centres in Schools initiative, the $3.3 million Rosewater Trade Training Centre opened in 2014 as a collaboration between Mt Carmel College, Nazareth Catholic College, St Michael’s College and TAFE SA.
