PACIFIC 2019 – Pacific International Maritime Exposition

The Naval Shipbuilding College is leading the way to develop the skilled and sustainable Australian workforce needed to deliver the Royal Australian Navy’s advanced future fleet of submarines, frigates and patrol vessels.

More than 15,000 workers will be needed in the next 10 years across the national Naval Shipbuilding Enterprise, offering enduring advanced technical careers working on the most technologically advanced programs in the world, including Australia’s Attack class submarines and Hunter class frigates.

New career opportunities will be generated throughout Australia, offering jobs across a diversity of disciplines, from fabrication roles in the construction yards through to engineering roles in the design bureaus and leadership opportunities within management teams.

The Pacific International Maritime Exposition is the only comprehensive international exhibition of its kind in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region. It provides the ideal opportunity for the College to showcase the significant opportunities for Australia’s small to medium businesses to identify commercial opportunities associated with the national Naval Shipbuilding Enterprise.

Thousands of Australian supply chain businesses are expected to be involved in the new naval programs. The College is supporting these businesses to expand their scope and scale, through strengthening and expanding their workforces.

Through fostering professional, trusted and collaborative relationships with the global shipbuilding companies, system integrators, sustainers and supply chain industry players, the College is working to develop robust forecasts for the future workforce requirements.

The College has also partnered with Australia’s training and education providers in every state and territory to ensure that endorsed programs produce job-ready graduates, who have the skills industry needs.
